Parish Council Finances

Parish Councils are funded principally by an annual precept, which is the tax charged on each property in the Parish and is collected by the Principal Authority – in our case Cheshire West and Chester Council. The precept is added to Council Tax and collected as part of the annual Council Tax bill and then paid to the Parish Council.

The tax to be charged is calculated from the total budget required by the
Parish Council to carry out its work for the next financial year.
